There is no restriction on selling the home immediately if that is your preference. Since the home is a lottery prize, there is no capital gains tax on the sale of the house unless you sell it for more than its market value at the time of the draw date. You may want to consult your accountant for tax implications if you sell it for more than the market value at the time of the draw. You can also transfer the ownership of the home to someone else.
  7. What are the odds of winning?

Odds are approximately 1 in 14.The odds of winning depend on the number of tickets sold. All inquiries, if any, on the odds of winning, are to be made to the licensee prior to the purchase of ticket(s).
  8. How old do I have to be to order a ticket?

You must be 18 years of age or older to order a ticket. Tickets may not be purchased in the name of a minor.
  9. Can I order a ticket if I live in the province of Quebec or anywhere outside of Ontario?

Yes, but you must be physically within the province of Ontario when you place your order regardless of whether you are placing your order by phone, online, through the mail or in person. If you are ordering online you must be located in Ontario.

No, you will receive a reference number. Depending on the chosen distribution method, Miratel Solutions Inc. will e-mail or mail the ticket(s) to your home.
  11. How many names can I put on each ticket of a 3 pack? Why can they not be in separate names?

3-pack tickets must be issued to the same person (same name and address). If the tickets are being purchased by two people, both names need to be on the order form. The ticket will be issued the same way. A maximum of three names can appear on the ticket, and all three names will appear on all tickets.
  12. Can I order a 3-pack of tickets as gifts?

If the 3-pack of tickets was ordered as a gift, the purchaser’s name and address will be listed on each ticket as the purchaser. Once the purchaser receives the tickets they can decide who will receive the ticket as a gift. Remember: if one of the three tickets should win, it will have the purchaser’s name and not the name of the person to whom it was given as a gift. All three tickets will be issued in sequential order – no exceptions.

Having the purchaser’s name on all three tickets indicates who is legally responsible for the tickets and helps to ensure a clear audit trail of how many tickets have been sold.

It is up to the purchaser’s discretion to transfer any prizes won to the person(s) to whom they gave the ticket(s). The CHEO Foundation and Miratel Solutions Inc. are not responsible for any disputes arising from a failure or refusal to transfer winnings and prizes nor will they mediate or negotiate any settlement should a conflict arise.

A maximum of three names can appear on the ticket. If a group is purchasing (i.e. Joe Smith Company) please list one name and provide a corresponding mailing address. Group members must work out the details of payment and prize collection among themselves. All prizes will be awarded in the name of the primary ticket holder which is the first name appearing on the ticket.

The non-televised, Pre-Early Bird, Early Bird and Final draws will be conducted in the offices of Miratel Solutions Inc., 2501 Steeles Avenue West, Suite 200, North York, Ontario M3J 2P1. Four people will participate in the process: 2 stationed at the draw drum, 2 stationed at the computers and printer connected to the lottery ticketholder database. The four people participating in the draw process will include at least 2 bona fide employees of the licensee and 2 employees of Miratel Solutions Inc. (an AGCO registered Gaming Supplier). The process will run as follows:

Person one (caller) pulls one token from the draw drum and calls the number on the token as it is drawn. The token is then handed to Person two, the token verifier. Person one does not look into the drum when drawing a token.

Person two (token verifier) verifies that the token number called matches the number on the token.

Person three (computer verifier) verifies that the token number called matches the number on the computer screen entered through voice recognition software and accepts the winning ticket number in the lottery software application that contains the ticketholder database.

Person four (computer/printer verifier) watches the computer screen to ensure the number read aloud is the number that appears on the computer screen. They also verify that the winning ticket number is printed out on a real-time basis after acceptance.

The token is then returned to the draw drum before the next draw.

Less than 10 draws on the draw date:

Person one (caller) pulls one token from the draw drum and calls the winning number on the token as it is drawn. The token is then handed to Person two, the token verifier. Person one does not look into the draw drum when drawing a token.

Person two (token verifier) verifies that the token number called matches the number on the token.

Person three (computer verifier) keys the token number called into the computer and verifies it matches the number on the computer screen and accepts the winning ticket number in the lottery software application that contains the ticketholder database.

Person four (computer verifier) watches the computer screen to verify that the number read aloud and the number keyed into the computer is the number that appears on the computer screen. Person four will then handwrite the winning ticket number on the prize draw log next to the corresponding prize.

The prize draw log is initialed by both the licensee and Miratel Solutions Inc.

The token is then returned to the draw drum before the next draw. The exception is for the Early Bird bonus tickets; the tokens are returned to the drum after the last Early Bird bonus ticket winner has been drawn.

For prizes valued under $5,000 the draw drum is spun after 150 draws have been completed. The drum is spun at least three times. For prizes valued above $5,000, the draw drum is spun at least three times.
