Since the home is a lottery prize, there is no capital gains tax on the sale of the house unless you sell it for more than its market value at the time of the draw date. You may want to consult your accountant for tax implications if you sell it for more than the market value at the time of the draw. You can also transfer the ownership of the home to someone else.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning are approximately 1 in 18. The odds of winning depend on the number of tickets sold. All inquiries, if any, on the odds of winning, are to be made to the CHEO Foundation prior to ordering ticket(s). By ordering the ticket, you agree to these odds.
